VitruView

VitruView is an amazing application that InterKnowlogy has built for the Microsoft Surface. It’s based on a prototype of a WPF application we built for InterMountain Healthcare.

VitruView was designed to help with angiography procedures in a catheter lab – it is essentially a 3d multi-touch application for heart surgeries that persists data in Microsoft HealtVault.

We used 3D heart models from our partner, Zygote, the world’s leader in 3D anatomical models and textures. VitruView provides the users the ability to zoom and rotate a 3D virtual image of the human heart. And since it runs on the Microsoft Surface you do not use a mouse – you use your hands! And with your hands you annotate inside and outside the heart by placing Stents and marking lesions. You can even add and remove arteries by drawing with your fingers. Clearly you need to see this thing in action, but watching a video of it is the next best thing.

iZooFari

iZoofari is online custom application built by InterKnowlogy for San Diego Zoo which greatly enhances the visitor experience.

Utilizing Microsoft Silverlight 2.0, Windows Server 2008, SQL Server® 2008, Visual Studio 2008, and the .NET Framework 3.5, the iZoofari application serves visitor content to users and provides business intelligence capabilities to improve Zoo operations.

Robert Erhardt, San Diego Zoo CIO says “30-40% of the sightseer time spent at the Zoo was figuring out how to get around". Visitors now will be able to plan their route in advance. iZoofari will not only show the chosen exhibits but also display a wealth of animal facts, trivia and photographs along an optimum route through the park. The application also tracks visitor patterns and collects rich data which is of immense value to all departments at the Zoo.

Photo Stackr

Photo Stackr is an inventive new way to find & browse through photos stored on the Flickr website. Photo Stackr gives you the ability to explore Flickr in a productive new way.

Upon searching in Photo Stackr, the results are presented to you in the form of the top ten photos resulting from your search. Photo Stackr allows you to organize those on your photo table.Stack em, Unstack em, Zoom, Drag and Drop, however you want to move the photo stacks around is up to you.

Angiographer

Angiographer is built on the Windows Presentation Foundation and leverages the managed 3D functionality to animate the heart as well as the built-in tablet/ink integration to build gesture recognition features. Coronary arteries are rendered as actual three dimensional spline extrusions as the user moves the stylus across the surface of the heart.

Despite containing well over fifty thousand triangles, the heart models rotates smoothly even on average graphics processors. Angiographer also makes extensive use of WPF’s vector graphics engine and control styling to create an unique immersive interface that is simple to use yet still visually compelling.

Molecule Viewer

Molecule Viewer is an amazing 3D application that InterKnowlogy has built for the Microsoft Surface. It’s based on the award winning WPF/SharePoint application we built for The Scripps Research Institute. Molecule Viewer was designed to help the brilliant scientists, doctors and researchers at the Peter Kuhn’s Lab at the Scripps Research institute view and analyze molecules in 3D on the Microsoft Surface.

Because the application runs on the Surface it allows the user to manipulate the molecules with their hands: with simple and intuitive touching of the interface, zooming and rotating and changing the views on the molecule. And it makes for one heck of a keynote demo having recently been highlighted at the worldwide Microsoft Healthcare Conference. The molecules are in PDB (protein database format – a text file standard used in the life sciences industry) and rendered on the fly by the Surface WPF application when opened. Clearly you need to see this thing in action, but watching a video of it is the next best thing. Molecule Viewer is cool because:

Wish⁴³ is a Graphical Look at the 43things.com Folksonomy.

Wish⁴³ presents a graphical experience to 43things.com – An award winning social networking site where users share lists of their goals, dreams and hopes.

Wish⁴³ graphically displays 43things.com user avatars and goals shared by those users. The more popular a goal, the larger it is represented. The Wish43 application does not show all the goals for a particular user nor does it show all of the people who share a specific goal. Instead, is shows a random snapshot of an internet community and their collective dreams and desires.

Sales Forecast OBA (Office Business Application)

The Sales Forecast Office Business Application (OBA) is an end to end forecasting business process. The application was built on numerous currently shipping Technologies (VSTO 3.0, WF, WPF ) that InterKnowlogy is familiar with using. The Sales Forecast OBA was designed as an end to end demo to show just how much you could do in an Office Business Application. Plus it makes for one heck of a keynote demo having recently been highlighted at the Office Developer Conference, Microsoft TechEd and other events around the world. Clearly you need to see this thing in action, but watching a video of it is the next best thing.

Sales Forecast OBA is cool because:

• It leverages VSTO (Visual Studio Tools for Office), one of the barely discovered jewels in the .NET stack.
• It uses the OPENXML format to generate custom Word documents with data from a SQL Server database
• It’s the basis for an upcoming book by Bill Sheldon of InterKnowlogy and Steve Fox of Microsoft.
• It embeds a WPF User Control with 3D graphics (created by Kevin Kennedy) in an Outlook email message
• It is the brainchild of Steve Fox of Microsoft and built by Bill Sheldon of InterKnowlogy
• It leverages a custom SharePoint workflow

Warehouse Floor Commander

Optimizing your warehouse based on your orders is not a trivial task. The warehouse is represented within your applications, but domain experts need to be involved in order to affect changes. Additionally, algorithms to accurately place bins to service current orders are not always entirely optimized, a human needs to pass judgment on the location of bins within the warehouse. A different type of application is needed to enable this manual activity, as currently it requires a domain application expert to affect changes within the system. The goal is to enable the warehouse manager, who lives and breathes the operational side of the warehouse, to be able to affect changes.

The Warehouse Floor Command Center is a WPF Surface application that enables a new way to work with complex warehouse information stored in Microsoft Dynamics AX. The highly interactive applications takes pick rate information and applies a heat map to a warehouse floor. Warehouse workers can use this virtual representation of the warehouse to quickly find out of place bins in their warehouse and move them to an appropriate location. Simply by touching a bin within the rack view you will see other bins with the same product in it, and easily view where the bin can be moved to. Using only your finger, a bin can be moved from one location to another. Upon submittal, the movements are submitted back and the appropriate people are notified.
